The Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on September 8th, honors the birth of our Blessed Mother. It is a day of joy, devotion, and gratitude for her role in God’s plan of salvation.
At Valencia Church, the celebration began with a solemn procession at 7:10am from Gorigudda and at 7:15am from Valencia Circle. Parish priest Fr Roque DSa blessed the newly harvested corn, symbolizing thanksgiving to God, followed by the offering of flowers within the church campus.
The festive Eucharistic Mass commenced at 7:30 am, with Fr Roque DSa as the main celebrant. A meaningful homily was preached by Fr Vishwas Miquith SJ, Treasurer of St Aloysius University, Mangalore. The Mass was concelebrated by Fr Maxim DSouza SJ Director of Asha Kiran Jesuit Residence, Pumpwell, Fr Pradeep Rodrigues Assistant Parish Priest, Valencia and Fr William Barrocas.
Continuing the tradition, Fr Roque blessed the new corn and mixed it with coconut roce, which was shared as part of the festive breakfast Roce. In his note of thanks, he gratefully acknowledged the tireless efforts of parishioners and the generosity of donors.
The celebration concluded with a joyful fellowship breakfast served to all.
