Our beloved parish priest, Fr Roque DSa, celebrated his 65th birthday on September 11. He began the day with a thanksgiving Mass at 6:30 am, offering prayers of gratitude to the Almighty. After the Mass, a short wishing ceremony was held.
On behalf of the parish council, Assistant Parish Priest Fr Pradeep Rodrigues, Vice President Ronald Rodrigues and Secretary Rita Menezes extended their heartfelt wishes to Father. ICYM Valencia unit members, led by President Alden Keith, came forward to wish him, followed by the parish choir members and the many parishioners present, who joined in with love and joy to make the day special.
A Shepherd with a Heart of Gold
Fr Roque DSa hails from the humble village of Shirthady, born to late Felix and Nathalia DSa. He was ordained a priest on April 30, 1987, and over the years he has served the Diocese of Mangalore in various capacities. On July 28, 2020, he took charge as the parish priest of St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia.
Since then, Fr Roque has become known as a people friendly priest who carries with him an infectious smile and a heart full of warmth. His quick wit and cheerful nature, often sprinkled with jokes, make him approachable to everyone. With a positive outlook and his favorite motto “Let’s go ahead”, he has guided the parish with wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering faith.
A man of simplicity and humility, Fr Roque has a special love for the poor and the needy. He never hesitates to reach out and help, doing his best to support those in difficulty. His generosity, empathy, and pastoral care have deeply touched the hearts of many.
To the youth of the parish, he is more than a mentor, he is a true friend, always standing by them, encouraging them, and inspiring them with his kindness and joyful spirit. Over the past five years of service in Valencia, he has not only been a priest but also a companion, guide, and inspiration to the entire community.
Today, as Fr Roque DSa celebrates his 65th birthday, we, his grateful parishioners, thank God for the gift of his life and priesthood. We are blessed to have such a dedicated shepherd leading us with love, enthusiasm, and devotion.
