On 20 August 2026, we marked the 35th anniversary of Konkani being officially recognised, with August 20 celebrated as Konkani Manyata Divas. At Valencia Church, we joyfully observe this special occasion every year as a mark of our love and respect for the Konkani language and culture. This year holds even greater significance as we celebrate the 25th year of Konkani Manyata Divas celebrations in our parish.
The celebrations began in the morning with the hoisting of the Konkani flag, followed by an evening cultural program and dinner. As the preparations for the evening program got underway, parishioners gathered enthusiastically at Ferrer Hall to prepare the dinner.
With great joy and a spirit of service, parishioners came together to take part in the cooking preparations. From cutting the meat to chopping and preparing the necessary ingredients (Shindap), everyone actively contributed to the preparations. The hall was filled with energy, laughter and a wonderful sense of togetherness.
More than just preparing a meal, the gathering reflected the unity, fellowship and community spirit of our parish family. Each parishioner’s contribution, big or small, added to the joy of the celebration and helped make the Konkani Manyata Divas festivities truly special.
The preparations at Ferrer Hall beautifully captured the spirit of Konkani Manyata Divas celebrating our language, culture, traditions and above all, the bonds that unit us as one parish family.
