The Liturgy Commission of our parish organised a Marian Hymns Singing Competition on 13 September, providing children and young parishioners an opportunity to honour Mother Mary through singing.
The competition began at 10:00 am with an inaugural prayer led by our Parish Priest Fr Edwin Correa. In his encouraging words, Fr Edwin motivated the children to participate with confidence and devotion. Asst. Parish Priest Fr Alwyn Crasta and Parish Vice President Ronald Rodrigues were also present to encourage and support the young participants.
The first session featured Category 1, comprising students from 1st to 4th Standard, with 18 children participating. Br Melwyn S.J. from Loyola and Emerita Pearl from Bondel served as the judges. Before the competition commenced, Nancy Rodrigues explained the rules and regulations to the participants.
The evening session began at 3:00 pm, with Category 2 for students from 5th to 7th Standard which had 20 contestants and Category 3 for students from 8th to 10th Standard with 18 contestants. The judges for the evening session were Fr Jencil Alva Professor at Jeppu Seminary and Fr Henry Saldanha S.J from Asha Kiran Pumpwell.
The evening program was conducted by Melroy Fernandes and Margaret Moras, who ensured that the event proceeded smoothly.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation and showcased the children’s love for Marian hymns, music and faith. Their preparation, confidence and devotion made the event a memorable celebration for the parish community.

Prize Distribution
The winners and prize recipients were felicitated on 20 September after the evening Holy Mass. The prize distribution was a joyful occasion, celebrating not only the winners but also the efforts of every child who participated.
