St Vincent de Paul Society of Valencia celebrated the feast of its patron saint, on Sunday, 27 September, with great devotion, gratitude, and fellowship.
The Holy Mass was celebrated by the parochial administrator Fr Edwin Correa. In his homily, Fr Edwin reflected on the inspiring life of St Vincent de Paul, highlighting his humility, deep faith and unwavering commitment to following Jesus through dedicated service to those in need.
Fr Edwin also spoke about Frederic Ozanam, the founder of the Society of St Vincent de Paul and appreciated the charitable works, sacrifices and commitment of the Society’s members in reaching out to poor and needy families. He expressed his gratitude for their continued dedication and selfless service to the community.
Following the Holy Mass, a fellowship gathering was held at Ferrer Hall with Fr Edwin Correa as the chief guest. Ronald Rodrigues, Vice President of the Pastoral Council and Leeda Aquinas Secretary of the Pastoral Council, were present on the occasion. Anil Lobo Chairman of MCC Bank and Louis Pinto one of the benefactors of the Society also graced the gathering.
Members of various parish organizations, Pastoral Council members, families adopted by the Society, donors and well-wishers participated in the celebration, making it a joyful occasion of community and fellowship.
Julian DSouza President of the St Vincent de Paul Society welcomed the gathering. Addressing the members and well-wishers, Fr Edwin Correa commended the Society for its charitable activities and thanked its members for their dedication, kindness, and selfless service to needy families.
Leo Tauro vice President of the Society, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the celebration.
The program was compered by Vincent Mendonca. The celebration concluded with a sumptuous breakfast served to all those present. The meal provided a pleasant opportunity for fellowship and togetherness among the Society’s members, beneficiaries, parish organizations, donors and well-wishers.

The St Vincent de Paul Society was established in Valencia in 1935 and is now completing 91 years of dedicated service to the poor and needy.
At present, the Society supports 28 adopted families by providing weekly groceries, medical assistance and educational support. It also helps children from economically disadvantaged families pursue higher education and provides medical assistance to those suffering from chronic illnesses such as cancer and diabetes.
The Society extends financial assistance to poor families for marriages and burials. Over the past three years, 14 families have received assistance with house repairs and the provision of basic amenities.
As part of its regular charitable activities, the Society distributes vegetables and meat to needy families during major feasts. During Christmas, Kuswar and cakes are distributed to needy families, bringing them joy and support during the festive season.
Through these activities, St Vincent de Paul Society, Valencia continues its mission of serving the poor, supporting families in need and reaching out to the most vulnerable members of the community.
