With the theme “Healing the Earth through Greener Initiatives”, St Vincent Ferrer Kindergarten School celebrated Vana Mahotsav on 6th July 2026 with great enthusiasm, fostering environmental awareness and responsibility among its young learners. The celebration aimed to inspire children to appreciate nature and understand the importance of protecting the environment from an early age.
The celebration featured a series of age-appropriate activities designed to instill the importance of trees and environmental conservation. The LKG and UKG students participated in a creative handprint activity, where each child traced and cut out their handprint to represent a leaf. The handprints were then placed on a tree display, symbolising their pledge to protect and preserve nature.
The Nursery and Playgroup students enthusiastically participated in a tree-colouring activity. Through interactive discussions, the children were introduced to the importance of planting and nurturing trees and their vital role in maintaining a healthy environment. The children were also made aware of the harmful effects of plastic waste on the soil and were encouraged to avoid the use and improper disposal of plastics.
The highlight of the celebration was the sapling plantation ceremony. The school was honoured by the presence of the Correspondent and Parish Priest Fr Cyprian Pinto, who inaugurated the plantation drive by planting a sapling. Leeda Aquinas Parish Council Secretary, along with the teachers also planted saplings, reaffirming the school’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
The Vana Mahotsav celebration was a meaningful and enriching experience that inspired the children to appreciate nature, understand the importance of protecting the environment, and develop a lifelong sense of responsibility towards preserving our planet.
